Two different, weekly, Sunday morning services are held at Christ Lutheran Church (one service in the summer and last few weeks of December at 10:00 a.m.).
A traditional worship service is celebrated at 9:00 a.m. This service includes a liturgy, confession and communion weekly, organ and piano music, violins and trombone, and the church choir. Our summer worship services follow this format. See recent bulletins from this service here.
A family-friendly praise service is offered at 11:15 a.m., September-May. This service is shorter and more relaxed, using contemporary music and musicians, and also includes confession and weekly communion. See recent bulletins from this service here.
Children are welcome in worship, and a children’s message is offered before the sermon at both services. Every fifth Sunday of the month, children help collect an offering from the congregation for our Needy Family fund to aid those in our congregation and community with financial need. Free childcare for 0-6 year olds is provided in the cry room adjacent to the sanctuary during both worship services for any portion of the service (many parents choose to keep their children in worship until the sermon time and bring them back to the sanctuary in time for communion).
Each Sunday we hear scripture readings from the Bible following the lectionary, a three-year cycle of biblical texts. The format of our worship service is both ancient and modern. We follow the ancient worship pattern of Gathering, Word, Meal, and Sending, using contemporary liturgies at the 9:00 a.m. service and simplified liturgy at the 11:15 a.m. service. See the biblical roots of our worship style here.
